I ordered a new freezer and also paid for them to take the old one away. However they had not told me that the old one needed to be defrosted first so wouldn’t take it! I am pretty annoyed. I will get a refund, but not for a couple of weeks. They should warn people of the need to defrost the old one. Grr

If you don't defrost it, it will leak everywhere! Why should they carry away your mess?

I would have automatically assumed it would need to have been defrosted.

Sorry but I would assume the old freezer would need to be defrosted and wiped clean for collection. I really think it's a matter of common sense that thhey really don't want to be transporting a defrosting freezer with the attendant watery mess.

It does actually mention it on their website Sallywally1. I bought a fridge freezer from them a few months ago. My son in law lifted the old one outside onto the garden path 2 days before delivery. It defrosted there and I mopped it out ready for uplift.

Otherwise there would be a mess in their van which is also carrying new ones . The boxes would arrive soggy.

I recently bought a fridge-freezer from AO. Before they delivered it a very polite person rang to make sure that I knew when it was being delivered and to empty and defrost the old one and to unplug it ready to be removed. I would have done all that anyway but I didn't mind being talked through what to do as it showed that they cared about making the delivery as stress free as possible.

I stand corrected! Now I have calmed down, after staying in all day, I see your point!

How gracious, I hope I can be as honest when I get it wrong.

I think you need to be careful when buying large items and having old ones collected. They sometimes won't go upstairs, or with beds each part is a separate item to be paid for. I was shocked at the level of detail regarding collection of an old bed. Just check their terms and charges carefully when having anything collected.
