What kind of coasters do you use?

Having visitors this Christmas has reminded me of why i find coasters such a mystery. Apart from fabric or slate.. how do you find coasters that don't cling to the glass or cup (and then drop off, banging into the food).... any ideas please on what works?

I have glass ones but they do what you describe maybe cork might work.

Cork and rush ones seem to work for me. I think the secret is to try and avoid mugs, glasses or whatever having a wet bottom when they are put down.

I have Beatles album cover ones. Cork with plastic fronts.

Wooden ones, bamboo ones, laminated ones, glass ones.

I have a vast and varied collection, bought over the years with some lost along the way so none match. Mainly cork with pictures on the front.

Square cork, always dotted around on side tables

I have slate , wood turned (by my now-departed brother), glass , slate and plastic, and custom-made plastic coated done with GS son’s hand writing (don’t ask me how )

My Christmas ones are lovely

Mine are mostly cork. Sometimes I use anything lying around...!

Mine are slate , no sticking to the glasses

I can't abide coasters and there aren't any in my house because of the way they stick to the bottom of glasses etc. All the surfaces where anyone might put a glass or a mug and leave a ring are well-varnished wood, laminate or glass and so easily wiped clean.

Mine are slate, I’ve had them for a long time and they still look good, but I think marble ones would also be non stick, and they are in vogue at the moment.

Avoid wet bottoms.

Good advice!

Mine are square wooden ones, bought from Woolworths many years ago.

They stack in a wooden holder.

Yes, glasses stick to the bottom, but I am ready for them!

I had some cork ones in a holder but they kept tipping out so they went to the charity shop.

These are mine.
Slices of mineral/rock with irregular edges.

Very heavy.
Don't seem to "stick" - probably too heavy to do it!

I don’t have any, my table is a scrubbed wood one and anyway it’s never used as no one comes for a meal anymore

I bring some back from holidays, so I have a colourful selection. Mostly cork.
I don't have any sticking problems at all.
