I think she means a timer that will turn the oven on at the right temperature when you're out, and off again when its finished.

Ours has this and DH uses the on/off timer facility a lot on his cooking days. Its a Bosch electric two oven cooker.

digital clock and timer so you’d think I would realise!

Thanks also re the Hotpoint. I had a look and they now all seem to have ceramic hobs in the 50cm. They get good reviews though so worth thinking about.

I have had my Hotpoint Ultima freestanding cooker with induction hob for some time now. Best cooker I have ever had. I think they do a 50 cm version with ceramic hob. AO are usually helpful with advice on finding what you want.

This is what I have, was unsure of moving from a gas hob to induction but I love it.

Thanks all for the helpful advice. Unfortunately it seems I’m stuck with ceramic in 50cm cookers as there don’t seem to be any with induction hobs and there’s no way I can fit a 60cm cooker in. It was the hob on the Kenwood that brought it down for Which, but there are a couple of others that specifically get good reviews for that aspect (and some that get very bad ones!). It looks like I’ll have to do without a timer, which is no big deal given phones etc, but it’s the clock I’ll miss - so used to glancing over at the cooker for the time. But thanks again everyone. 👍

I have a ceramic hob which is great for keeping clean but the cons are that pans take an age to heat and I make jams and marmalade and the temperature doesn’t reach setting point, so a bit of a faff. It will be induction next time for me

A Google home hub or Alexa are great for timers. You can set as many timers as you want and name them e.g. potatoes or veg.

I know they are expensive for a timer but you can get basic ones and they do other things e.g. radio

The only caveat I can offer is that I changed from gas to ceramic and it wasn’t very controllable (too hot or too cool).

I now have an induction hob and it is brilliant, hot enough for jam making and can simmer very gently.
