New washing machine

I love my Candy Prowash. Just bought a new integrated one for my new kitchen.
I also like to see water sloshing around in the drum and often add extra water through the dispenser drawer.

I've had Hoover, Zanussi and Bosch machines in the past and the Bosch has been my favourite. It's 10 years old and still going strong (only needed fixing once - a new hose last year). It does have a spin only programme, which would be a deal breaker for me when choosing a new machine. I also wouldn't like a machine that uses very little water, so would also be interested to see if anyone has bought a Bosch recently that fits the bill.

I bought a LG washing machine last year to replace my worn out Indesit. I like it, and washed a double duvet in it last Summer.
It has an eco setting which I use frequently, and it sings a pretty little song when the programme is finished.

My machine that has no ‘just spin’ is a Bosch.

I replaced my lovely old Siemens with the cheapest machine in John Lewis, a Beko. I hate it, the 1400 spin isn’t a patch on the 1200 on the Siemens and I often do another spin cycle after washing bedding as it’s too wet and heavy to risk breaking the washing line!

It most definitely has water sloshing around, though I don’t use the very long eco programme. It’s incredibly noisy when filling and emptying, noisy spinning, I can’t wait to get rid of it and buy another Siemens.

Thank you all. It's a big decision- don't want to make a mistake! I am a bit concerned about the efficiency of water efficiency machines!? but all machines seem to be that way now.
Have been looking at Bosch but will also consider Siemens now.

I had a Siemens machine that worked very well for years. When it died, an engineer told me to go for Bosch - he said they are identical, only the fascia is different. I took his advice and wasn't sorry - the Bosch was a lot cheaper and works wonderfully.

Good point Witzend I also spin hand-wash wool.

My machine does it but my mother-in-law's doesn't.

We bought a British made Ebac. No better or worse than any other machine I’ve had. But we wanted to buy british .
7 year warranty and someone on the other end of the phone if a problem does crop up.

One thing I’ll most certainly look for next time, is a ‘just spin’ function. My current WM doesn’t have one, only a ‘rinse and spin’ which you have to faff with to get ‘just spin’ - and there are absolutely no instructions in the handbook!

So when the machine was new, I mis-faffed when trying to ‘just spin’ a ‘sloppy Joe’ type pure new wool jumper I’d knitted in chunky (the yarn cost around £80 and I’d hand-washed it for the first time) - and it came out fit for a 2 year old. 🤬

My current machine is Bosch and it's still going strong after at least 10 years.

It's been great though- no problems.

Me too! A Bosch devotee, they're my go to brand for white goods, so not a lot of help OP. Good luck with your search though.

I have been very satisfied with my Bosch, and had it for many years. Should it need replacing, I would get another Bosch, but would study the various wash programmes first.

Have a look at the length of time on wash programmes. I tend to use a 30min mixed wash on my new Zanussi but some of the programmes are very long, Eco cotton is 3 hours 5 minutes!

I have a Samsung that is very good, so much faster than my 16 year old Hotpoint.
