Tie backs?

Unfortunately a bookcase is right next to the doors so no space for the curtain to be drawn back that far.

Does the door you use slide or turn so that it is against or behind the other door? If it does, there would be space against that door to pull it to the side and tie it back where it isn't trailing at the part where you walk in and out.

Wouldn’t it be easier to fix what’s marking the curtain.

Sounds like they either need another inch taken off the bottom, or have them permanently tied back (you'll have to bring the bookcase forward a little.) We have ours permanently open with tie backs, no need to close them.

In our case it would be the dog brushing past en route from the garden.
Not so easy to fix.

Maybe you could use magnetic hold backs low down on the curtain? My son uses them on his door curtains rather than tie backs, they are not attached to the wall.

It's caused by us in and out to the garden - though trying carefully to avoid the curtain.

Thanks so much for suggestion of magnetic hold backs - I had no idea they existed. Might well try a pair of those.

Can you not tie them back? I have curtains on my patio door.but have nice tie backs.Which i can lift up the curtains slightley.

Magnetic tie backs ordered from Amazon and just arrived - do the job perfectly, so many thanks jusnoneed.

We have similar long curtains by the patio doors but always keep a pair of old shoes there hidden behind the curtain to change into which saves the mud getting tramped in and out then onto the curtains.

Yes we too keep old shoes by the door, but somehow sometimes something must brush against the curtains.🙁. Anyway, hopefully all sorted now.

They will probably shrink a bit when cleaned so that will raise them off ground.

I have the same problem with long, lined curtains that have to be dry-cleaned, by the open part of the patio door. I also had problems with small children in and out of the garden in the spring and summer, and a dog brushing past.

I solved the problem with a white, plastic, tall, slim, oblong-shaped, open-topped litter bin!! (Used only for this purpose.)

When the better weather arrives, and I start opening the patio doors, I pull the curtain back as far as possible on the rail of the open door side, and pick up the bunched-together bottom of the curtains, and drop them neatly into the clean bin!! It works brilliantly. People see the bin, understand the purpose of it, and walk around or brush past the slim bin, allowing the curtain to stay lovely and clean.

I also use the same bin when I am vacuuming, to protect each side of my lovely floor-length curtains - so they don't get dragged into the vaccuum cleaner!
