I bought 50 white wire coathangers for 9.99...lifechanger!!

About 15 years ago, I bought several packs of normal and clip ended coat hangers (for trousers and skirts) in Matalan which were coated with fine rubber in various colours. They are brilliant! No transfer of the colours, grip whatever is put on them and the bits that are bare metal (the hanger bits) are still bright and shiny.

I wish they still sold them, I'd buy and heap more for all the clothes I sew and give away.

Just keep a careful eye on your collection of paperclips. it's not generally known that they're the larvae of wire coat hangers and if left to their own devices will breed prolifically!

Each to their own I'm still very pleased with my purchase as the white resin coating makes them feel a bit more luxurious than plain old wire and they are super thin...might order another lot.

I hate the wire hangers you used to get your dry cleaning back on and have ditched them all over the years.
I mainly like the plastic ones for lighter garments and wooden ones for coats and jackets.

I’ve got the space saving hangers that each hold six items - dresses, tops, trousers. I like the light wooden hangers, but also bought stainless steel skirt/trouser hangers from Amazon. My wardrobe is much less cluttered as I’ve taken clothes that I haven’t worn for ages to the charity shop, where I volunteer.

Many years ago when setting up holiday cottages t put in wooden coat hangers. These have gradually disappeared and replaced by an assortment of wire ones. So many arrive I have to remove some quite regularly

Amazon do some hangers that can hold six skirts/trousers - that cleared my wardrobe up quite a bit.

I think it's having plenty of hangers or whatever to make the job in hand easy.

I am decluttering and bought a pack of medium sized cardboard boxes from Amazon. So with a fresh roll of sellotape, scissors, some newspaper for wrapping, labels and a black marker pen I was able to make short work of packing up china and glass to pass onto the charity shop or to a relative who wanted some. The boxes were all the same size so have stacked into a neat tall pile by the front door

I expect OP whizzed through sorting and hanging up her tops and enjoyed doing it.

The felt ones are tricky getting stuff on and of but great for never sliding off and are minimally padded as regards no danger marks ....they are - very small space here - slim for modest wardrobes.

Cossy 🤗 & spot on kittylester I've a few canoodling away in the bottom of the wardrobe too but it was the extreme slenderness (they're for dry cleaners really) and bright whiteness of the new ones that enticed me into parting with cash.

I’m afraid I hate the wire ones, and will only just tolerate the felt ones because very lightweight summer shirts don’t drop off them, but generally, I hate all coathangers! I put them in nice neat stacks in the ironing room and next time I look it’s like they’ve had an orgy while my back was turned!!

I cannot touch the felted ones. Makes me feel like a nail scraped down a chalkboard. I have lots of wooden hangers, but they take up more space and I use more for winter stuff. So what OP has done is great for light summer tops. The light summer tops seem to breed let alone the hangers. I could probably wear a different one a day for the whole of the summer.

I ought to do that and if I dont like one then wash and off to the charity shop while it is still summer.

Threw all mine away. Hate the things and bought all wooden.

Sainsburys and M n S take the black ones to recycle. I actually changed all mine to those slim felted ones so that clothes don't slip off. I have kept some wooden ones with bars across for hanging trousers over. I had a lot of wooden ones and a charity shop did take a set of 10 I had packaged nicely as they were clearly going to sell not like plastic ones.

I did the same getting them all out using one of those cheap easy to erect moving clothes hanger thingies

I admire your aims. Re belly that will never go slim cos of ops, to I do exercise,

last night I was ruthless and went through the lot and put quite a lot in a charity bag 😢

but...in trying a lot of clothes on, I discovered some quite nice combinations that I hadn't thought of, ie these trousers with that top and so on. 😊

I thought that when wire coathangers bred the result was paper clips.

Absolutely delighted...all my summer tops released from binsacks and boxes hanging compactly, neatly, visibly & totally accessable.

All I need to do now is -
a) reduce post-op belly to fit into them
b) find enough places to go to wear them
c) keep out of charity shops for a bit
