Missing certificate has been replaced but is it going to cause issues for sale?

I moved into my home 5 years ago and had a partial rewire and fuse box replacement done. I requested the certification at the time.

5 years later I'm about to move. Can't find the certificate. Call the electrician and it turns out it wasn't issued after all. Call him up and he says I'm right, he never issued one and he'll send one.

The NICEIC certificate is dated with 'Date complete' as today's date which doesn't seem right.

Should I just tell him I don't want it and and get indemnity insurance instead?

I think the certificate should have the date the installation was completed and the date the certificate was issued. I'd contact the electrician and ask him if he can/will put it right (he should be able to do this through the issuing body). You can contact NICEIC yourself too. Indemnity insurance should be the last resort. I once got a reduction in house price because there was indemnity insurance and not a valid certificate, you shouldn't potentially loose money due to an electrician's error.

Alternatively l think you can get an ECIR and that overrides the need for an NICEIC certificate. Ask your solicitor as he's the one who will have to provide the paperwork to the buyers solicitor.
