I thought i was going to pass out.
Not that I've ever passed out out in my life, but it was awful.
Trying to open the door with my elbow, and keep the paper and glass in place.

I’ve got several different types of Spider Catchers bought over the years but after seeing what a small Cellar Spider did to a GHS about 3 times his/her size I leave the Cellar spiders alone now. If they miss a GHS or any of the others I will grab the nearest Catcher & then evict the caught one at the wild bottom of my garden. Never go in there just to the start & let my Gardener go in & play with all the evicted spiders when it needs sorting out!

Ooh, just use a glass and a piece of paper, "they said".
I tried that, and the spider jumped around like a maniac inside the glass.
I got to the door, gritting my teeth and sweating, then realised i didn't have any way to open the door.

I'll never, ever do that again.

I'm absolutely petrified of spiders and I'm sorry, but I don't care if they're killed. I literally get palpitations and come over in a cold sweat. I can feel a shiver going up my back and hyperventilate. There was a big one on the wall in the bedroom late at night, a while back and I went to get the vacuum cleaner, because there's no way I would have been able to sleep with that on the wall, but when I came back upstairs it had gone! AAAAARGH!! I couldn't find it anywhere and I ended up sleeping in another room for days. I eventually went back in that bedroom after checking thoroughly. But can you ever check thoroughly? It could easily have been under the bed clinging to the underneath of it, off the floor.

I’m with you, they petrify me, only the big fast moving ones, I don’t mind tiny ones or the small fragile ones that hang in a corner until they turn to dust, but I will kill the big beastly ones, however, I can’t get close to it and since my DH had a stroke he isn’t able to provide his spider removal services. So I usually suck it up the hoover or bang it with the heavy end of a broom. Sorry but is either my sanity or the spider. Both cannot reside under the same roof.

We never have flies in our house because I don’t get rid of the spiders. I know which I prefer to have.

I m afraid I can’t share all your fears and yuks they’re just creatures trying to get by.
Funnily I haven’t seen any in the house for a long while although I find plenty of cobwebs.
It’s usually September when I walk straight into a cobweb as I go into the garden.
I ve never thought of buying anything to deter them
When the grandkids were little and scared of them I used to give them names, I remember Margaret lived in the loo (they stay in one place for weeks) and she had lots of stories woven round her ( haha ‘woven’ see what I did there)

I absolutely hate spiders.
I'm so, so afraid of them.

I dread the time when they decide to move in.
I'm a nervous wreck.

I’ve bought a spider catcher. Like a brush thing on a long pole.
It’s fab. I just open the door & put them outside.

That is what I use as well.

I am also more likely nowadays, to leave them where they are for a while. Most seem to wander off of their own accord.

It just keeps the spiders away as far as I know. My dh thinks I shouldn’t have it done as the spiders eat the mosquitoes but I hate spiders more than the mossies that come out at night

Shinamae if you look on Amazon they have lots of spider repellents.

Be careful though as some are killers not repellents.

A man comes and sprays the outside of my house every year in May, seems to keep the critters away and out of the inside of the rooms.

Wow, is that for all critters (Rats/Mice) or just spiders?

Apparently Spiderex is no longer available, it has been withdrawn from sale.

It was withdrawn when the EU updated/changed some regulations.

Old stock is still available online.

It didn’t kill spiders it was a deterrent, we used to spray it on our outside CCTV/Alarm cameras and sensors. It works, there are similar products on the market.

Care to share GG On the brand you use because I really do want just a deterrent

In the simplest of terms, a spider web is a fresh, active web constructed by a spider to catch its prey, whereas a cobweb is an older, dusty spider web which is no longer 'in use'.
