I'm hoping for some sage advice as we seek the next place to call home. Our working lives were London oriented although we've live in the Northern fringes for 30 years. Children grown and flown. We are attracted to locations between Stevenage and St Ives. Intrigued by new house developments but tempted by more characterful established villages too. We are early 60's and still working when we can but this move needs to see us into old age. We are seeking community, nature, history, opportunities to continue allotment gardening, village/town charm and character and convenience for shopping and travel. Staying within 1 hour of Stevenage would be good for family contact. What do folk suggest here? TIA.
