family mediation

Has anyone any experience of family mediation, how it works and whether it was successful in resolving issues. I am interested in taking this route to try and resolve differences with my son and contact with my grandchildren

HI specki. Mediation is usually much more successful than litigation in securing agreements that all parties abide by. There is a training and accreditation programme and all mediators who are registered with the Family Mediation Council have to adhere to a code of practice: http://www.familymediationcouncil.org.uk/5.html.
A mediator will often see the parties both separately at first and jointly thereafter. The children may be involved dependant upon circumstances and their ages.
