Erm, don't use denture cleaners - use tooth paste - not for cleaning the loo though - it's would take ages. Coke is good for cleaning the loo and not good for the teeth. grin

The toilet roll planter works wit sweet peas, too, saves the roots all getting tangled together. Sow the seeds in October and they will be bigenough to plant out in early spring.

Use toilet roll tubes filled with compost to bring on runner beans then just plant the tube with the bean growing in it. Alternatively, a cone of newspaper can be used - also for bringing on sweet peas. Slugs and snails don't like newsprint.

It assumes you use denture cleaning tablets in the first place.

I always line drawers with wallpaper remnants, but then all my furniture is what auctioneers describe as brown furniture and the bases of drawers are bare wood and can get dusty. I expect if I had modern furniture with white wipe clean drawer interiors I wouldn't bother.

I use old egg boxes to chit potatoes and then put them on the compost heap (the egg boxes, not the potatoes)

smile are you expecting to get more teeth Frank, despite having a full set at 64?

Oh, you do make me laugh, Frank! grin

Pity I have just thrown some of my father's denture cleaning tablets away last week as I still have a full set if teeth at 64.
I will probably get some more.
Oddly enough the bone is not very good under 1 of my teeth and 3 different dentists have said it may come out at some point.
I was first told this when I was at school.
If this does happen I may have an implant done which the dentist has said would cost about £1,000.
Other than that they said I may have a full set of teeth until I am 100 plus as the dentist has said they are very good from a strength point of view.
If the tooth comes out when I am 105 I may reconsider if an implant is best.
Oddly my father only lost 3 teeth when he was 87. As 2 were near the front he decided he did not want implants at his age so he had a partial denture.

I can beat the denture cleaning tip. When your dentures have had their statutory 5 minutes (or 3 if your cleaner has been "improved") and been fished out, empty the remaining solution round the inside of the loo bowl. Two things cleaned for the price of one tablet.

The Oldie magazine has an amusing column entitled Tips For Meanies.
This months contribution suggests using left over wallpaper to line shelves or drawers-something my parents used to do.
Other thrifty ideas could be:
1. Use cardboard egg boxes to plant seeds.
2. Clean the loo by dropping in a denture cleaning tablet.
3. Ketchup will clean dull and tarnished copper.
4.Repair scuffs on white shoes or trainers with Tippex correction fluid.
There must be plenty more..
