What a really funny statementbentley49 ! My parents are both well into their 70's and my grandma is 97, are you suggesting that my parents (both in ill health) should work or starve until my grandma has been gone for 5 years?

Thats really funny, what about those who need to retire because of ill-health? just as a 'for instance'.

That's the most amazing non sequitur I've ever heard Gerry.
As Private Eye might put it, could you and Frank be related?

I know of a few cases where the offspring are claiming their pension at the same time as their parents.
As they are likely to follow their parents on length of life I think the offspring should work until both parents have been deceased for 5 years and not be paid any pension during that 5 years occupational or state.
