I agree it may be aimed at locals and 1 of the meetings is about 10 miles away.
It does not say that you are restricted to 1 meeting.
As it is a peak holiday time I feel sure there will be people unable to go to their nearest meeting and will attend 1 a bit further away.

Well, Frank did make that clear in his OP if not in the thread title!

It'll be interesting to hear whether they attempt to persuade you to leave when you turn up at the next meeting, Frank!

You get annoyed Frank , perish the thought .!!!

Ah, so re-reading the thread title, it would seem that you were not personally invited, it was sent to advise all residents that these meeting were taking place?

You mention 4 meetings, just a guess here but were they held at different venues across the catchment area to make sure that they majority of residents had a meeting within a reasonable travelling distance?

I cannot imagine, Frank.

Just been to a public meeting about cutting elderly care costs.
I don't know the reason why but every time I spoke the person in charge of the meeting tried to cut my speech short.
After I got annoyed with them they let me carry on with my speech.
I got the impression I was not wanted at this meeting by the council officials but members of the public were only too happy to hear what I was saying.
I wonder why this was the case?.

Sometimes tea and biscuits are available at these meetings but they have to be paid for.

Do they need anyone to supply the buffet and refreshments grin

You are definitely needed at those meetings, Frank. If I was involved in a fight with the local authority, I'd want someone like you in my corner.

I think I will be ok.
I worked for the council for 5 years after being retired from banking and found out a lot.
I got retired off early again. I think the council now thinks employing me was not their best move but there is nothing they can do about it now.

Good advice, Frank...Do you need jings to accompany you? wink

You do it Frank. They didn't ought to throw you out.

Have the local newspaper on speed dial just in case.

I have just had a letter through the post saying Birmingham City Council has got to make savings in relation to elderly care.
My only real experience in relation to elderly care has been to point out to social workers things like a property jointly owned by a parent and offspring can not be taken in to account when the council does a financial assessment and in relation to cases where a property has been left to the children on condition a step parent can live in it until death or until they enter a care home this property can not be taken in to account as it does not belong to the step parent.
I am intending to go to all 4 meetings to point this out to people.
I am just wondering if I am likely to be thrown out.
