shez9 Speak to your local Citizens Advice Bureau CAB). They should be able to tell you what you can do to restart communication and what your legal rights are.

shez9 - do a letter to the director of children's services. Give the names and dates of birth of your grandchildren and explain you want to maintain contact with them. If the social workers have gone to court for an emergency protection order, or interim care order, the local authority will share parental responsibility for your grandchildren. This means they have the legal power and duty to ensure the children maintain contact with significant people in their lives, which it's clear you are. Ask to be kept informed about the plans the social workers are making. A letter to the Director will be passéd to the team manager, who will discuss things with the social worker. I'd mention in the letter than you are writing because you haven't been able to speak by phone. If you know the dates you rang, list them.
