Checking my bank account this morning and found an unknown amount of £49 - which I subsequently found had been taken by Amazon for their Prime membership to which I have never applied. I e-mailed and there was an immediate stock reply advising me that the monies would be put back within 2-3 days. Considering the amount of customers that Amazon have they are making a nice amount of monies if they are putting this money into an interest bearing account for a few days. Tax free of course!

I am cross

I'd be shocked as well just think of the many people who don't check their accounts so closely and are paying for something they didn't authorise.

It's all too easy to click on the Prime membership box trial to entitle you to free postage on an item - then when the trial period's up they charge you the full fee of £49. A couple of friends have been caught out like this. They hadn't knowingly done it.

I only spotted it as I signed out. I was so cross, I had to sign back in again and cancel it, because I knew I would never remember to do it in a year's time.
