Moped insurance at 78?

Amadou - I get about 20 miles from my Giant bike which is nore than enough for me ! I understand the later models have a greater range. As for replacing the battery , I have had my bike 8 years and never needed to replace the battery so have no idea how much they are. I have a basket on the front, 2 panniers on the back and a couple of bungies to strap a bit more on so I can use it for shopping. When I had my pony I took my saddle and everything else down to the field on it. Never tried a bale of hay though ! LOVE IT !!

Thanks for your help/advice people! The battery bikes seem interesting but I wonder about the range (mileage) available, and about the cost of replacing batteries? I still hanker after a small scooter ...

tiggy my Dutch & German friends all had those bikes when we lived in Spain they where very popular with them,all the excercise without the effort

I love my 'battery assist' bike and no insurance necessary. Certainly makes cycling easier and as I still have to turn the pedals I get exercise too.

After a quick google it would appear that if it has an electric motor your fine. Petrol or diesel require insurance etc.

Have you thought about a cycle with a motor ?? I regularly see one around our town. I assume (may be wrong) that they don't require insurance.
They take the effort out of cycling.
