I'll vouch for the site as well, have used it regularly for all sorts of things, money off make up etc, foreign exchange currency, switching energy companies, comparing Isa rates. It is extremely reliable and fair. Martin has also done a series of programmes for tv, giving the same sort of advice.

I recommend the Money Advice Service if you are looking for anything financial. Much better than the usual comparison sites as it includes all the organisations not just the ones who give commission. Yes, I know it is not just for older people but it is good anyway.

I always check the MSE website and forum for tips before spending money.
They have everything from how much the gifts on the front of magazines are worth (I have a stash of expensive nail varnishes collected that way) to the best car insurance to buy.
My favourite bits are how to earn money from doing online surveys and from buying via Quidco.
Bloomin' fantastic website and everyone should sign up for the weekly email.

We do that as well KatyK we redecorated just before Christmas when they had a sale and that extra 10% made an added extra we where lucky as the paper was quite expensive at the original price and it wasn't too painful with the discounts taken off.

We always make sure we get anything we need from B & Q on a Wednesday using our over 60s discount card. Our local B & Q is always full of pensioners on a Wednesday grin. We get all our bedding plants there (on a Wednesday!).

This looked good, so I thought I would sign up.
There were some free offers from Anglia Water, so I requested them.
They informed me that Anglia Water dont supply water to that address. Funny that, they took 2 sums of money out of my bank account yesterday.

I followed advice on there and got a lower council tax band plus rebate, still felt it should have gone down two bands but didn't want to push it. Excellent site.

Its certainly worth while signing up Spidergran5 when we moved into this flat we used a code from MSE which gave us free installation of our phone line via BT and it saved us £135.00,I also used the site a lot at Christmas for up to 50% saving on shops that I used for buying gifts.I read their e-mail every week before I buy anything it doesn't take long and can save £s.

MSE is very informative I have found lots of useful tips there. I claimed for mortgage mis-selling because of something I read there and we eventually got back a substantial sum from our mortgage company. Signing up
for the e-mail is simple enough.

A friend told me I should sign up for the Money Saving Expert email as she always finds weekly deals on there. This week's had an over-50s section. Didn't realise over-60s get 10% off at B&Q on Wednesdays! Any other deals I should know of?
