Energy Prices - are yours coming down?

My monthly direct debit payments have suddenly been reduced by £6 per month, to my surprise. Nobody informed me.... I had better phone them.

Mine is fixed, but they're still reducing it, backdated, roses. In the rest of the email, they inform me that it's fixed until Sept 2015 and will write to keep me informed of a better deal before then.

I think they're going for an opportunity to get more customers whilst the Big 6 are holding out against the pressure to explain why prices don't come down as quickly as they go up. Fine by me!

They certainly have. We made the mistake of fixing ours for this year [British Gas] bet they don't change their minds though!

Quick off the mark - M & S/SSE have sent out emails about the demand for price reductions as gas costs have almost halved. Here's what they're saying:

'Some energy companies haven’t passed these savings on to their fixed or capped tariff customers, but we don't think that's fair. So you’ll pay the lower rate from 16 June 2014 for your Fix and Save tariff and we’ll backdate it to 24 March 2014 by cancelling any bills issued after 24 March 2014 and reissuing them at the lower rate. You can find more information about the reduction at mandsenergy.com/lowerprices.'

I hope everyone gets their bills reduced and backdated like this. They've been shamed into it but at least M & S/SSE have been prompt.
