Does anyone know anything about tax credits?

DH and I have both received demands for repayment of over payed working tax credit dating to April 2010. I haven't been a taxpayer since about 1989 (only worked few hours a week) DH retired 2008. We have never claimed tax credit to my knowledge.

I have tried 3 different phone numbers and looked at the web site but can't find how to contest this.
Any advice, please. Or do I have to resort to snail mail ?

If you in receipt of state pension then you are entitled to help from a pension/benefits adviser.Dig out your pension allocation letter and telephone and request a visit. They should be able to check you are currently getting your correct entitlement and when they visit ask them to investigate the tax credits letter.

Check to see if it's not a scam letter, nina. There are a lot going round.
