Do banks sell shares?

Do they send details with an annual report or shareholder news on how to sell them? We have some free bank shares we may sell; I was going to see if we could do it directly with them rather than use an outside company.

Same here, rose, they hardly seem worth hanging on to as the dividends are risible. I'm sure there's information with the statement about how to sell them - it's just a case of getting round to it!

I would phone the company direct, jeanie99 to see if you can do it in-house, so to speak.

We bought some shares through our bank's share dealing service - which they have now advised us they are closing down, so I'm not sure how we would go about selling them. They were intended as a long term investment for our grandson, and the dividends go into his savings account, but they have done so badly in the last year that we are considering cutting our losses. You could enquire whether your bank has a share dealing service (unless it's Barclays!); otherwise, as Ana suggested, contact the company.

We have very few shares- but we still have the ones we got when Alliance Leicester turned into Santander;) They are probably worth very little...

I dont think banks are the ones to go to when selling anything!

Check on Moneysupermarket , they are pin sharp.

The shares are with Lloyds previously Birmingham and Midshires free shares, we have had them years.
The dividend yearly is hardly anything.

I thought Lloyds bank would charge more than an Internet company.

Have no idea about selling shares thought some kind soul on here would point me in the right direction.

I'll have to do some research on the Internet.
