'tax Office: New email Alert' SCAM?

i've received a purportedly genuine email from the Inland Revenue regarding a Tax refund. The email gives a number which it says is my Tax Return and an attachment asks for my bank details, so it can be paid into my bank account.

As I haven't completed a Tax Return I have no intention whatsoever of completing it and have forwarded it to HMRC phishing department.

I just wanted to warn GNs that this is possibly another scam. I'm awaiting a response from HMRC.

I found one supposedly from HMRC in my junk folder.

A good way to check these things out without opening the damn things is to check the sender info, the one that I had showed some very strange stuff!

The HMRC will never send e-mails for tax refunds, this is unfortunately a common scam. Please do not send any bank details or even open any attachment as they could hack you computer.
