I'm not sure, but I would think so. You can always have the new property put into joint names once he's sold his.

Good evening, my partner and I are planning to sell up our homes and buy a property together. My house is under offer so I will hopefully be in a position to purchase a property quite soon. My Partner has not got his property on the market yet. My question is if he puts money into a property with me before he sells his will he be liable for the extra 3% stamp duty to be levelled on second properties. Thank you for any help
