Giving money to children/ grandchildren.

It looks as though I am not going to be able to return to my ( part time) job because of ill health. I could do a consultancy thing, purely for the money, but really feel I should enjoy the good health while I can.

My employer will probably make me a poor pension offer, which, if I took it as a lump sum, would allow us to take all our sons, daughters- in- law, and grandchildren off for a nice little long weekend ( 8 adults, 4 children)

Himself is not convinced, and thinks they would probably rather have the cash. I'd rather go away together now, while I'm still reasonably able, and before the grandchildren' s social life becomes too intrusive!

What do you think?

It's your money, you worked for it, you choose!

I must say, mine would refuse to take it and tell me to spend it on myself

Or you could have a longer holiday with just you and your DH - a memorable trip somewhere where you've never been?
