Important Petition Women born in the 1950s

The petition closes on 20 April so if any new GN members could sign to help it towards its 200,000 it would be appreciated. WASPI are meeting the cross party committee on the same date. They are further considering the reduced pension option and took evidence up till 10 April. I for one would consider taking it a year early at a reduced rate.

I heard that they were thinking of offering us our pensions but at a reduced rate thus only adding up to what we would have got over time if it was started to pay out at 66. Not sure if that will go ahead but its a start.

I can't even begin to put into words just how upset I feel about this and how much difference it will make to my life having just missed out, so much so that I signed this petition without thinking but of course it will do us no good because as ×grannyactivist× , so rightly pointed out this has already been debated and there are no plans to alter it.

I'm seething in the same way as you Newquay. I was born in the same year as you and have younger sisters and friends who are significantly affected by the changes. One missed out by a couple of months, it's absolutely disgusting.

Just heard on the news that it's been decided to offer the women caught in this trap lower pensions FOR LIFE-how is that fair? Grrrr. I was born in 1949 so was able to receive my pension in full, having been working since 1965 except for 7 years at home rearing DDs. I was then in a low paid job as I would only work part time to be at home when my DDs were too.
No doubt the majority of the women caught in this trap did the same. It's shameful they cannot now retire.
I would be pooped if I had to turn out to work every day now and mine was a sedentary office job.
This change-which, of course, has to happen eventually-should be for much younger women who have sufficient time to make alternative arrangements.
Anybody out there feel the same? I'm seething. . . . .

I'm afraid this petition has already been debated with the result that there are no plans to alter State Pension age arrangements for this group.
