Small Print

Is it not about time that the small print con is tackled. How can it be right that consumers rights can be infringed by very small and complicated print that can be used against consumers by providers. If anything in small print could not be used in a legal process for any reason it would be pointless. All legal warning should form part of the terms and conditions in "normal" print for all to clearly see.
So how can we start the ball rolling?confused.

How many of us read the T&C's that we agree to online when installing software etc. Some years ago one major company included a line in their T&C's for a few days, the sentence said something like, "I pledge my soul to the devil". No one noticed.

I don't know anyone who reads through the T & Cs - they are pages long and are not written in everyday language. I'm not sure what we can do about it.

So if you do not read it but you can be caught out by it and you lose money, goods and or rights, you would then be angry and care?blush

The only way to change things would be to look at what laws are involved stipulating what companies have to do via small print and T&Cs. However, it would either be down to getting a law put into place stating that they must be written a certain size and in a certain language, or if you can get lucky, get a large company like Virgin to change the way they do it and hope other companies follow their lead.

On the other hand, I am pretty certain if you can't read the small print you can request a large print copy from the company/supplier and they have to provide it otherwise they are going to have issues with accessibility/inclusion laws.
