I have my 15-year-old grandson's passport. am I legally obliged to give it to anyone but him - or the man who has parental responsibility for him?

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 21:28:09

I've looked through a lot of them, but there's no point going down any further when i see something I know i haven't seen in weeks! Let's face it, i am untidy, a hoarder, and i lose things....but why this thing today!

I can't do any more tonight, my back is aching with bending down. I need supper and bed. I will sleep on it and start fresher in the morning.
Thanks for suggestions, folks.

I wouldn't put it past me! I've even looked in the microwave.....

There are hundreds of pieces of paper in this room, because all my family history stuff is here.

um, thinking, thinking.

You have emptied the bureau, haven't you?

If you empty everything out then you'll remember then that you put it under the fruit bowl in the kitchen or some such daft place

Coat/cardigan/jacket pockets? Did you change what you were wearing?
Go through the papers again - separating them and putting them down one after another.
Empty all bags and put the contents back item by item.

If all else fails then try to go through the actions you took up to the point you put it away.

I remember taking it out of the printer, putting the piece of paper it came with round it, putting it in the little plastic bag I was keeping it in, having another look at the details in it while sitting in front of the computer....then just a short memory of a safe place for it, and no idea where!

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 19:51:52

No joy.

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 18:26:39

I'll try...

Sit down quietly, pray to St Anthony and cast your mind back to where you were when you last remember having it

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 17:56:20

Maybe I need St Anthony Jalima, my subconscious doesn't seem to be waking up and telling me!

I have been known to 'sleep on it' and wake up in the morning to go straight to the place where the lost thing is.
I have found at least 4 other things I had mislaid, so I must be searching fairly thoroughly?

thatbags Sun 19-Jun-16 17:55:19

Sending good search vibes flowers

Jalima Sun 19-Jun-16 17:51:54

Dear St Anthony, full of grace
Please lead Alie to its hiding place

Pray hard

And also - what has affected my memory is, that during that day, before I went to the JR,I was getting a series of texts from K which worried me considerably as he has not been in a good state, and I had to try and think what would be best to say.....

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 16:46:35

Elegran this is the sort of lines I have been working on, but no luck...this is infuriating.
I have hidden it from myself!
Possibly because I don't really want to give it to any of the brothers, but to my 15 year old himself... but it's now more important that he should have it.

Elegran Sun 19-Jun-16 16:42:10

A safe place . . . mmmmm . . . in a drawer, underneath clothes? Between books in a bookcase?

Elegran Sun 19-Jun-16 16:32:42

When you got ready to go to the JR, did you change your clothes? Throw them into the laundry basket?

Elegran Sun 19-Jun-16 16:29:57

What were you doing just before you copied it? just after?

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 16:28:32

I'm dreading that the most embarrassing thing will happen and one of the brothers will contact me wanting to collect it!

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 16:27:34

Can't think of anywhere else to look! I have the copies and it isn't with them. It hasn't fallen behind the printer. It isn't in any pocket.
I can't remember if I put it in an envelope, but I've been looking among papers thinking I could have put something down on top of it, and feeling if they will bend, as it is stiffer.....no luck yet....

miep Sun 19-Jun-16 15:40:15

Have you found them yet?

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 15:36:26

Shoulder bag, yes. Only one sweetie in there!
It ought to be in my bureau, if I was systematic, but it isn't...

Welshwife Sun 19-Jun-16 15:33:18

Have you completely emptied your handbag? I have sometimes looked for things and not found them till I empty everything out. I hate dark lining in a bag.

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 15:20:27

No - I looked because I have done that before, and I did put the copies there - but no. And I have looked in the car too, in case I forgot and I had taken it out. I can't think where else to look!

rubysong Sun 19-Jun-16 15:14:07

Is it under the lid of the copier?

AlieOxon Sun 19-Jun-16 15:00:54

I am an idiot. I copied the passport, put it somewhere safe - and now i can't find it! I am panicking. Been looking for it for two hours.
Friday afternoon I went to Oxford to the JR and remembered on the way that I hadn't brought it. So it must be here somewhere!

Elegran Fri 17-Jun-16 15:44:27

And if (God forbid) he loses it or has it stolen, you have a record of the number and so on.
