I wonder if anyone knows about getting a "non-standard" Will drafted? As cheaply as possible please ... and I need to have it written so that my dear husband is not included in it! I have good reasons for his non-inclusion in a Will. Any advice would be welcome.

A few years ago I bought a DIY will kit from, I think, W.H.Smith, for about a fiver. It had very clear and full instructions, which I followed to the letter. I then photocopied it for myself and sent the original off to be deposited at the official place in London (details for this were given in the pack). At the time I think the deposit fee was about £15. They will send you an official receipt. It was much easier than I had imagined. Also you might be able to buy a DIY pack online if your local stationer doesn't stock them? Best of luck smile

Have you not given some thought to Lasting Power of Attorney for which you will need a solicitor. That is the route I am going down at present- having made a will so many years ago I need somebody to have access to my money etc. if necessary.

The only way is to use a solicitor.

One way to make it cheaper is using a specified solicitor during 'Free Wills Month' freewillsmonth.org.uk/. This is dependent on you leaving money to one of the participating charities, although it needn't be a large amount.

Thank you MOnica, Charleygirl and alicebandit. I will study and find what to do ... just very tied up at present and so much to do, but will sort things out soon! Many thanks for taking the time to respond.

I got caught with the 'free wills' was told, not asked, that donation should be £80, this was five years ago. I did my own LPOA, it took ages and was returned for amendments many times !!!
