Does anyone live in an apartment that has been purpose built for the over 65's,you know the ones that you pay a service charge for,are they worth it and how much a year does it cost ( in service charge ) Do you regret buying it? What happens if you can't afford the service charge??

Nibbie This discussed reglarly, including very recently. I will have a look to see if I can find it.

Found it! Click on forums, top of the page. Run your eye down to subject 'House and Homes', open and on page 1, about two thirds of the way down the page, in caps OVER 55 HOUSING, last post by Varian on 12.08.16.

It has been discussed before that as well but all threads cover the same ground.

I worked for an HA for almost 20 years, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. The service charge goes up every year, if a communal improvement or repair or replacement is required the costs are shared between all residents, not always affordable. Also not everyone is easy going or respectful of others which leads to much friction. I could go on.
