Dear all I have been asked to go on BBC radio to talk about leaving money to grandchildren. I confess its not something I have thought much about having made our wills and left most of what there is to our children. If you could let me have any thoughts you have on this subject I would be very grateful. Thank you

Why do we feel the need to leave any monies to our grandchildren, or children come to that! I say spend it on yourself and enjoy your retirement.

I have divided everything into 3. One third for my son, one third for my daughter and the last third to be divided equally between my two DGDs. Painting etc have already got stickers with names on the back. Anything anyone wants specially is also named

My parents left half their money to myself and my sister and split the rest up between the four grand children. All very fair.

I expect my mum to leave everything divided 4 ways, I have 3sisters. My parents trust us to look after our own children. Having said that if she spends it all that's up to her,it's her money.
I will do the same for our children, if there is any left then they can share it. They have both had a decent education at reasonably good state schools followed by uni. We helped both out with deposits for houses now it's up to them.
My lifestyle is not dependent on any inheritance I may have.
