Credit card receipts

I was trying to reconcile my CC statement this morning, (boring I know), but I had one receipt that had nothing printed on it to show where it had originated. It turned out it was only for a couple of coffees, but I was sure that the receipt must show where an item was purchased.
I found out what I had purchased by looking it up on my spreadsheet, ( even more boring, but it keeps me out of mischief)
Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but does anybody know the answer please?

I do not think there are any requirements for a receipt to show where an item is purchased. I assume you are talking till receipts here.

Small businesses and the like, often have tills producing receipts but can not be bothered to fiddle around with the machine in order to work out how to put their name on the slips

I get no receipt at all when paying cash in several local independent food stores. They write the cost of what you buy in a notebook they have, add it up manually and tell you how much you owe. If I pay by card they give me the card receipt, but that is all.

Thanks M0nica, I just thought the shop/ outlet should have a named receipt for the customer.
