Private pensions and divorce

My OH took early retirement from his job 2 years ago. He gets an income each month in the form of a pension from his (now ex) employer.

I am younger than him and still work part time. My monthly wage is roughly the same as his monthly pension. If we were to divorce would I be entitled to a share of his pension...as he accrued it whilst we were married?

We have been married 25 years.

You may be able to have a pension sharing order as part of the financial settlement in divorce. You would need to discuss this with your lawyer. You might find it helpful to look at a website called Advicenow which gives free advice on divorce and related matters. For your information legal aid is no longer available for family law except in very specific circumstances so you might be better off seeing if you can reach agreement via mediation before going to court
