After you've been looking at your bank accounts online is it safer to click on logoff rather than just closing the site on your 'puter?
Or is there no difference?

You should always log out if the option is there especially Bank accounts.
All open tabs are meant to "log out" automatically after a certain time but a lot just seem to carry on remaining open!
Better be safe than sorry.

The banks I use log you off if you have been inactive for just a short time so it's automatic. I'd like to assume all banks are the same but I would log off just to be sure and certainly a good habit to get into if you use shared or public computers. Else all you are doing is closing the window. Your account details could still be up and accessible for a short time after from your browsing history depending on how you have that set up.

Mine time out anyway within minutes.

I just take a screen shot then log out

Definitely log off. The site will log you off by itself if you haven't done anything on it for a few minutes - this is for a reason! (And I'm a great believer in "belt and braces."

Yes

I click on logoff and then close the window. I thought everyone did this.

Yes, log off

I always log off from my bank account and close down my browser, even if I want to go on working on the computer. This is what banks here (Denmark) advise you to do, and it only takes a couple of seconds to re-open a browser.

Better safe than sorry.

I definitely agree with grandtantJE65, always immediately close your browser after logging out of your bank's website.

Thanks for the replies. As some say, better to be safe than sorry.

It depends on your bank settings. I have mine set to automatically log off if I move from the site. There are usually several options including 1 minute after no activity etc.

I was referring to my mobile banking apps, I don't use my laptop for banking.

Log off. Although your bank probably logs you off automatically after a certain length of time. And change your password regularly.

Definitely click on 'log off'!

GrannyIris5, I don't understand why you take a screen shot before logging off.
