Lost late DH's will.

No, my new solicitor requested the original when DH died and passed it on to me once DH's estate was dealt with. They may well have a digital copy, though. I just can't believe I've been so careless!

Our wills are at the solicitors? My husband died 2 and a half years ago, will they still have it?

I was merrily shredding away this afternoon, and as I have just made a new will thought I'd get rid of my old one, but I must have pulled out DH's by mistake and just didn't notice. I have googled and it's £10 for a copy on the government website, which I think I might do. I would like to have a copy of it.

If the Will was drawn up by a solicitor they may have a copy on file, although obviously it would not be a signed copy. If the Will is not being contested then as you have Probate there shouldn't be a problem. I believe a Will can only be contested up to 6 months after death.

You would have to pay a small amount, but once probate has been granted, or a short while later, wills are public documents and you can obtain a copy - in fact I believe you can obtain a copy of anybody's will, as long as you have their details.
