Cosmetic surgery

I get stuff done and if I had the money I'd have it all! I don't look "weird" by any means, just not as miserable and scowly as I would naturally. I am old though.

My DD, who IS young (in her 20's), has her forehead and round her eyes frozen. She can't move her forehead and doesn't get "crows feet" when she smiles so won't get lines. She doesn't look "weird" either. In fact her partner is completely unaware that she has anything done!

Lips are sometimes made to look a bit on the large side, but that's entirely up to the individual and not for us to comment on either way.

Fashions change. Big boobs were in not that long ago, now not so much. Big lips may go the same way. In the meanwhile it has nothing to do with anyone else how someone wants to make themselves look.

Absolutely Jeanie but that was not the main reason I started the post, it's the young girls who have it for the frozen doll look and the normalising of this look. Each to their own but people who inject into young faces are equally wrong, in my view.

People male and female have platic surgery for many reasons.
Some for serious conditions like cancer of the face, scaring and conditions I would find understandable to try and alter.
Having chemicals injected into the face, faceliftes etc for costmetic reason I don't understand.
BUT life can be short and if an individual believes this would alter their life for the better, give them more confidence that is up to them and no one as the right to critise their actions.
This is something I would never do but I uphold the right of anyone to choose.

I dislike the trend in old and young women.

Too many end up with an expressionless face and don’t get me started on ‘trout pouts’ ! Just ugly.

If people want procedures that’s up to them but it’s not for me, my life is reflected in the experiences shown on my face and I’m ok with that .

I had dermal fillers in my Marionette lines, about 18 months ago. The procedure was a little bit painful, nothing too bad. I had them done in 2 separate visits, 2 weeks apart. I was absolutely thrilled with the results, and it all cost £700.

The downside is that the results lasted about a year. My lines have returned, but aren't as bad as before. I'm 60.

I'm with the OP and Joyfulnanna on this one. Paddyann, if you have the money to get fillers injected into your face every year then go for it.

There's probably not just one reason for coveting the in look/modification of the day.

I don't think cosmetic surgery is done as an act of teenage rebellion.. Its to do with striving for physical perfection.. to be instagram ready etc..its a symptom of the shallow society we live in.

Well remember being young? If older people liked your look, you were doing it wrong ?

Every generation feels like they have to invent looks that the previous generation dont get right?

I don't think we're on the same page. I am referring to the trend in young women to fix their faces when they don't need it, creating a doll-like mask on their young faces. In your case, I would imagine that the procedure will make you look fresh and more youthful and reflect how you feel inside. I wish you well..and good luck..it seems you enjoy your work.

I dunno, people have done worse to their faces in the past. Beladonna eye drops anyone?

Humans are odd... nothing new about that

I have a notion to get my marionette lines filled,They are a new arrival on my face from losing weight and they make me look really miserable.I'm not..I'm a very happy ,content person but for people who dont know me all they see is a miserable old woman.I work with the public so I'm speaking face to face with maybe a couple of hundred young people a week..sometimes more and these lines knock my confidence .I'm of the opinion that what you do to your face ,or body is no ones business but your own .I'm 65 and I'm quite image conscious and I dont see anything wrong with being that way .
