Make your Will!

My brother died recently. He was 76 and had been in poor health for years so I was shocked to hear he left no will.
He was an intelligent responsible man with complex financial affairs. I can only imagine the problems he has left his widow and the animosity amongst family members.
Arguments over property can split families forever. Dying without a will is stupid and selfish, leaving to your family what you should have had the decency to do yourself.
There should be publicity telling every adult, not just the old, that they should make their will for the sake of their families.

How I agree with you. I actually thought it was illegal not to write a will when you marry in England, but of course your brother could have been somewhere else.

I hope your poor SIL mangages to make her way through the mess he has left her.

Also set up powers of attorney. Never know if you might be incapacitated with a stroke or similar, unable to write etc.

It’s not illegal grandtante, many people die intestate, ie without a will.
