Energy costs

If my electric is 13.75p per kWh - if I have my electric fire (2000W) on for an hour how much would that cost me? Is it about 28p or am I in lala land?

I’m wondering if it’s cheaper for me to just have this fire on for an hour or two in the room I’m in or put my gas central heating on which heats the whole house?

Thank you!

Hooty
That's about right.
My heating goes on at 6.30 in the morning and goes off at 10.30 at night.

Correct, that’s what a 2kw fire costs continuously, heating cost varies enormously, if you have an old poorly insulated house it will be expensive and probably never really warm. A modern house well insulated is very cheap to heat, so cheap that electricity only is the most economic way.

Thanks both. Wasn’t sure if I was underestimating!

I will now have to work out (or try to) how much an hour on the gas costs.
