Sending money in sterling to Europe since Brexit.

With my bank, I can send it as pre-Brexit but I think the charges are higher. Quelle surprise.

Official rate around 1.14, I use First Direct, free online or £4 by phone, receiving bank will convert to local currency, works worldwide too. I’m sure many other accounts do similar currency exchanges.

Gosh that’s good - my bank had a fee of £9 before Brexit and now it’s £20.

I’ve sent money to Europe and the US using transferwise.com
The rates are excellent and the money arrives in the recipient’s account the same day.

Just checked PayPal, £1.50 fee, 1.30 Exchange rate to receivers bank account.

I’m a very risk averse person in these situations and so wouldn’t use any body which wasn’t covered by FSCA

I have a Revolut card, which I believe allows free transfers of money between accounts. You can load your card in sterling online, then exchange it into Euro (usually at a good rate)
I presume you can then transfer money to another Revolut account. The card is used just like any debit card.

I use Currencies Direct and have done for several years. Never had a problem although it takes a day or two,

We used currency Direct when we lived in France but didn't know if the same system works from UK to France. And any change since Brexit?
Not for me, for friends whose daughter lives in Belgium.
