This is just to warn you about a couple of scams. The first is related to HMRC. One of my clients had a phone call yesterday from someone purporting to be from HMRC to tell her that she was being investigated for fraud and that an arrest warrant had been issued.

The other is an email that I received yesterday from a named person. If I don't recognise the name I hover over the email address. In this instance it appeared to be genuine, not a slightly changed address of a client or a friend. The person was asking me for a favour. I checked and found that this was a scam too.

I've got a block on my phone (telephone preference service) but some still do get thru.
Recently, a message purporting to be from Royal Mail asking me to pay £2.99 or my parcel would be returned to sender.
I wasnt due any parcels that needed postage costs, so I knew this must be dodgy. It gave a link to click, so I googled the number instead. +447810348249 - definitely NOT Royal Mail.
So they were deleted and blocked.
A caller on Saturday said they were from o2 and could save me 40% on my phone bill. It's not even that high to begin with, but in asked if they'd call back later and speak to someone else who helps me with that sort of thing. He asked when? I said couple of hours. Ok. He didn't know my name, which my phone provider would have, and he didn't call back.
And then there's the TV Licence, which comes out of my bank regularly, so I knew there was no arrest warrant out for me on that.
And the funniest yet was that I had incurred points on my driving licence as I'd been caught on speed camera. I have never driven in my life!! ??
I said I'd go down to the police station myself, and promptly hung up on them.

This thread should really be in the new Scams and Fraud forum. It was created so that members could keep up to date with all the current scams doing the rounds, all in one place. Could you perhaps ask GNHQ to move it?
