Should I get an itemised bill from my solicitor

They are possibly a percentage of the Estate and the sale price of the property, plus normal selling costs.

Completely reasonable, and the case management system the firm uses already has all the costs itemised; that being how your fee note was calculated.

You have every right to see that before paying the fees.

My MIL died recently and her house has been sold. She was not a wealthy woman and lived in a very small property. The house was sold to the first viewer for the asking price. There was no chain and it was a cash buyer.
We have now been presented with two lots of charges from the solicitor. I think the charges are extortionate considering everything appeared straightforward.
The first charge is for the house sale and the second charge for the administration of the estate.

Neither of the requests have itemised what the charges are for.

Do you think it is reasonable for us to request a breakdown of the charges? I don’t expect that every single item is listed but they have just presented us with two figures they expect us to agree to. I might add we live in England and the property is in Scotland.
