SumUp card reader

I used Sumup a couple of years ago when I had a monthly market stall and it was brilliant. Easy to use and their cut was pennies in the pound. Sounds like they have over expanded too quickly. I would get your money back first via the credit card route and then switch to a different card reader.

I had an accountant who had a lot of retail clients who used Sumup and they were very pleased with the service this was a few years ago so the situation may be different now. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Note - I found this by doing an internet search for the Company name and address plus their number - Company info SumUp Payments Limited, 32 - 34 Great Marlborough St, W1F 7JB, London, UK ID is Company ID: 0783 6562 which is under "Legal notices" at the foot of their website home page.

If anyone wants to know who runs any company they are thinking of buying from, or where that company is registered (or their Persons with Significant Control are based) if you find out their name and address and ID number, that will lead you to their registration details.

I have looked at their website, and they seem very keen to sign people up to sell on their card reader products. It looks to me like an organisation which is set up more to acquire selling agents than actually to deliver what they sell.

Opengov UK shows the registered facts and directors at opengovuk.com/company/07836562 It includes a list names and addresses of Company Officers, and one of Persons with Significant Control (which, apart from the Company Director and the Secretary, consists of corporate entities in Antigua, Barbados, Cayman, Switzerland and Luxemburg)

Letters direct to the Company Officers may do some good - or may not!

Kick up all the stink you can. I would inform the Office of Fair Trading, whatever else you do. This is NOT fair trading, and it sounds as though many others have discovered that. I would also go to the posts by other victims and state that you have done that, and advise others to do the same.

Do they have a FB page and/or a Twitter account? Do you have their webpage link? There may be a clue on there, perhaps in the coding behind the page, to where they are based, or some other way of contacting them or finding them. Someone with programming skills may be able to find out if you can't.
