Returning faulty goods after 6 months - what's the law?

I bought my husband a pair of walking boots almost 6 months ago and he's noticed the upper is coming away from the sole on both shoes. Now, being over 70 and having several health conditions plus cancer, he doesn't walk munroes. I expected that buying a pair of Salomon boots for over £70, he could have had at least a year's use at this level. Should I get my money back or even an exchange? I bought them in person at a Sports Direct store.

You can return them as not fit for purpose, they must be returned to the store.

Is it reasonable that 6 months use is 'not fit for purpose'? Thanks for your input.

if you have kept the receipt it should have the store's regs. for return printed on it somewhere

Look up Sale of Goods Act. Not fit for purpose. They should have lasted longer. ??

They should last years.
They will have a minimum 12 months warranty.
