Amazing news here.
OH applied for a passport renewal. Average waiting time of 10 weeks. Then we saw the report on the One Show about passports taking ages.
His passport arrived today, 2 weeks and 1 day after the online application went in.
Maybe today's the day to buy a lottery ticket! Feeling very lucky and grateful.

Very glad for you. I was on Mumsnet and a whole family were turned away at the airport because of the six month rule.

That sounds good. We’re just in the process of renewing ours ?

You are very lucky. My son in law is having a horrendous battle trying to get his passport. He applied in February , the passport was delivered to the wrong address and returned . He rings the number, is passed from one person to another, sometimes he is cut off ,but no one can give him any advice What a shambles. I think I read somewhere that part of the service has been passed to a private company. Another failure for this government.

We are very lucky and very grateful.
The courier who delivered it posted it through the letter box but then loitered in the drive. I went out to say 'thank you' and he said he has delivered passports to people who have missed their flights. He was pleased that I wasn't irate.
Hope it goes smoothly for every one in the process of renewal right now.

In February my husband applied online for his passport renewal and received his new passport 2 weeks later.

I applied at Christmas online. The site said to expect a 5-6 week wait. I received it in less than a week.
I feel the online renewals go through quickest judging by the reports I have read.
