Out of date coins, what do you do with them?

Well, I was pleasantly surprised.
The auctioneer's estimate for coppers was £30 - £40 and he's put the silver into different auctions depending on how old the coins were and their silver content. Auctions take place on various dates over the Summer so I'll see what actually happens in a bit.

Several years ago we got rid of some old and some foreign coins to Oxfam, who can sell them to collectors. It might be worth asking if they (or a charity of your choice) still take them.

I have just completed sorting a carrier bag full of coins, mostly coppers, ranging from 1850 - 1966. It has been an interesting project and I am about to take the whole lot to our local auction house for advice.

I am expecting that they will be worth tuppence ha'penny so just wondering if there was a better way of putting them to use. Any ideas?
