That sounds more like a quantity-based cost per unit than a fixed cost. Very odd.
thank you! so we are paying for failed suppliers, supplementing poor households, and network costs which from my view should be financed from their profits and not customers ... practically all costs of energy companies are pushed to customers and they just collect profits... doesn't sound fair and how commercial (for-profit) organisation should operate..
just received projection for energy bills as of Oct 1... does anyone know why is standing charge increasing every time when price per usage is increasing? Per definition "Standing charges are a daily fixed amount we pay suppliers for our gas and electric. It varies by region due to the different costs to transport power to where we live. The charge pays for costs that are fixed for a supplier on a per customer basis." Therefore unclear why if gas price per KWH usage goes up standing charge also goes up... Any idea?
