I am with SSE and I haven't clue what is happening, and from the communications I get from them, they don't either.
I have been paying bills quarterly by direct debit. To begin with I got a £900 bill for the second quarter of the year. I did nothing because we were told bills would be going up and this was about 3 timesthe usual quarterly bill.
About a montha afo, I had a message from them, telling me that the June bill was completely wrong and they would be repaying over £500 of the £900. However, this arrived as I filed the return for the September quarter and they did not make it clea whether the refund was before or after taking out the value of the September quarter.
Last week I got an email saying that they were ceasing to do quarterly direct debit and I would be moved to monthly payments. Fait enough. Except they then told me my monthly payment would be £600. There was no indication whether this was before or after the extra money to fuel bills from the government.
Today i got an email apologising for last weeks email as it was all wrong that they hadn't included the government payments and my annual energy bill was going up just under £200.
Then I got further down the bill, it said I should make sure I sent in my meter readings before 1st October to make sure,I squeezed every penny out of the pre- 1st October- lower prices.
So I have not got a clue as to what my energy bills might be this winter and neither, clearly, do SSE.
I would like to move to Octopus, but alternative suppliers are not accepting transfers because we are all on variable rates, and there we should stay.
DD is with Octopus and sings its praises, I just want to get away from SSE but can't
I am not a happy bunny.
