Energy bills

Does anybody know what's happening with energy bills?

I keep reading about future reductions, but I can't find out how much they're going to be reduced by.

I've read that the price cap is going to be reduced and average household bills should be lower. However, I use nowhere near the average and I'm wondering what percentage reduction I can expect.

As I understand it, ours would come down from around £2,500 to £2,000 so 20%.

Have a look at Martin Lewis's website. He's very clear on this kind of thing

I've recently had an email from my provider e-on to let me know that my direct debit will go down by almost £50 per month in August.

The price cap drops this Saturday, if you don’t have a smart meter, you’re advised to send in a meter reading tomorrow.

Similar thing in the Mirror where ML says prices set to go down by an average of 17%. Good advice to send in a reading by tomorrow especially if your consumption is fairly consistent over the month.

Meant to add, if you pay by direct debit.

Thank you everybody. I do have a smart meter, so I don't have to do anything. I pay by direct debit too and have a credit on my account of an estimated three months' bills.

My direct debit for gas and electricity is only £105, which has more than covered my last couple of months' bills, but won't cover any increase over winter. As I always budget in advance, I was trying to estimate how much my direct debit is likely to increase (or not).

I found the information I needed.

The standing charge is apparently not changing.
Electricity unit prices are going down by 10%.
Gas unit prices are going down by 25%.

My supplier contacted us and gave us all the details as they affected us.
