Thanks for that info. So, I imagine (but you never know)- that would exclude most of us.

Nat West and First Direct for us- we would certainly not be elegible for Coutts.

Once, many years ago, banked with their subsidiary, nat West. Terrible bank, put money into wrong account if I remember, causing delay to payments. Moved from them. Been with Nationwide ever since, no complaints and local branches remain open .

I think it's an aspirational thing too - rather like in the 80s people who'd had a bit of success wanting to be a Lloyd's Name.
