This payment has hit my bank account today and I am very thankful.
Being over 80 and on my own it is £600 .
When my H was alive and we didn’t get the extra cost of living payment we would donate it to charity every year.
Now I am on a much reduced fixed income I do donate some of it but am very grateful to be able to keep warm and cozy.

I’m still waiting. Need it before ordering oil!

Got mine a few weeks ago!

Had mine about 2 weeks ago, surprised it was so much, £500. Have donated half to 3 separate charities.

Georgesgran

I hope that was a tongue in cheek post Daddima.

It’s just calm down and carry on here. No-one I know has got theirs yet. It’ll be on its way, I’m sure.

It was indeed, and I agree, it will come when it comes.

In 2021 mine was paid on 8/11, and last year on 29/11. Nothing so far this year.

And so, that information was absolutely no use at all!

Mine is in this morning as well.

I also check my bank account every morning and I use a credit card for everything online as the contract is then between the seller and the cc company and the cc company becomes liable for any scamming. My dd card contains my direct debits such as council tax, car tax etc and I get cash out for purchases

Anyway my wfp came in today and I have already used part of it, it is very much needed and I will be warm. Shocking to see the big rise on my smart meter, now that basic warmth is kicking in overnight. It needs to because underfloor heating downstairs takes an age to get up to the required (safe) temperature and upstairs needs to be 18

since my credit card was cloned twice within a few months a couple of years ago, I have got into the habit of doing a quick check in both that account and my bank account every morning whilst I have my brekkie. Takes such little effort and time and makes me feel safe. I do keep a note on all monies I am entitled to recieve and know exactly how much money goes out of my bank account by DD, etc. I have a list with how much money I need each month,(I ( divide ALL my costs by 12), and provided that (Micawber like) remains lower than the sum I receive in each month, I am happy.

I must admit that my knowledge about what I'm entitled to is pretty shaky, but I do check my bank regularly and noticed that £300 had gone in.
Note to self; - Must do better!

Georgesgran Thu 23-Nov-23 09:48:15

My battery died, otherwise I was about to post the same Franbern and MaryD
I’m sure I’d have noticed a credit payment of £300 on my bank statement! Are the days of checking things thoroughly gone?

I am surprised as to how many people seem to have little idea as to how much money they are entitled to.

I was thinking the same.

Thanks RosieMaw, for giving full information of the Winter Fuel Payment, which has been doubled this year. So, for those of us over 80 it is £600, For younger pensioners it is £500. single living or couple living tgether). This is not in any way effected by income.

The other money is the special payment to those on specific benefits and is a total of £900 over twelve months. The first payment was £299 back in the Spring, second payment of £300 being paid now and the final £300 due in Spring 2024. These are called CoL (Cost of Living).

I am surprised as to how many people seem to have little idea as to how much money they are entitled to.

lemsip

mine states £600 in two amounts of £300.

different parts of country different maybe

From the DWP website

If you live alone or no one you live with is eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment
You’ll get either :
£500 if you were born between 25 September 1943 and 24 September 1957
£600 if you were born before 25 September 1943

Hopefully this makes it clear.

I thought we were getting £500 that’s what my letter said Lemsip

BlueBelle Thu 23-Nov-23 07:50:17

I haven’t had anything yet I keep looking I had the letter weeks ago Wonder if they go by alphabetical order

lemsip Thu 23-Nov-23 07:48:45

I thought the £600 was paid in two payments of £300. not one lump sum!

had £300 and expecting second payment next month

Mr C’s WFA payment arrived yesterday, it always appears first. He’s 5 years older than me. Could be a factor? His notification letter also arrives before mine. My retirement pension is received a week before his each month. We’ve always wondered about the logic of the WFA payment system.

So does WFP go into our account on regular pension day?

My pension was paid last Friday and I had the WFP today.

Jane43 Wed 22-Nov-23 21:20:37
