This payment has hit my bank account today and I am very thankful.
Being over 80 and on my own it is £600 .
When my H was alive and we didn’t get the extra cost of living payment we would donate it to charity every year.
Now I am on a much reduced fixed income I do donate some of it but am very grateful to be able to keep warm and cozy.

I notice the payment was made on 5th Dec last year so I’m patient

I had my £500 WFP last week. I am still working off the excess I built up with my energy company during the summer, even after lowering my monthly DD, but the way the daily charges are racking up now for this well insulated house, that won’t last long, especially if bills are going up again in January.

Yes the cost is racking up very quickly, I have a smart meter and glance at the monitor daily, on my way up to bed. I mentally multiply the daily cost by 30 and get the heebie jeebies when I think of the monthly total. I, for one, am very grateful for the £500 this year. My house is well insulated, it is not an airless box so warmth does leave and cold does come in

I am managing a half a degree lower temperature here and there, particularly in the living room during the mornings, when I am often busy elsewhere in the house. My bedroom is maintaining a fraction just under 18, 18 is the recommended bedroom temperature for oldies

Thank you Jaxjacky.

Kind of fuel related, but last week I had a major fridge clearout, and have noticed that the smart meter is showing around 15p less daily. Nothing else has changed, so I’m thinking it must be the fridge.

I can see that my WFP is coming into my bank tomorrow, 3 days before my SP is scheduled to arrive.

Nannee49 Mon 27-Nov-23 15:52:09

NotAGran how/where can you see the WFP is due to land in your bank tomorrow? Due to my current circs, it would be really helpful to have that information as I find it really stressful to keep checking online.

Nannee49 Mon 27-Nov-23 15:56:51

My online banking I meant as opposed to just searching online- sorry for not making that clear.

NotAGran55 Mon 27-Nov-23 18:09:37

Nannee49 it is on my HSBC online banking app in the ‘upcoming’ section, with tomorrow’s date.
I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your quick reply NotAGran, I'll check if my app has a similar feature.

Jaxjacky

Mine is in this morning.

Mine also, one day earlier than last year.

Hi can anyone tell me does the payment only go in on the same day as your pension or can it go in any day of the week. Last year mine went in on the 28th (that was a Monday, my usual pension day) but nothing so far. Thank you

My pension was paid in last Friday, my WFP today Suzie I don’t think they’re connected.

It’s in!
It’s gone - car service.

Mine came in yesterday, which is also my pension day, but that may be a coincidence?

Sar53 Wed 29-Nov-23 19:16:48

I received mine today, DH has yet to get his.

I worked in the DWP many moons ago when the Winter Fuel Payment was first introduced (1997?). It used to amuse us as pensioners would ring up, some quite nastily, demanding to know when they would receive their allowance as they needed to start their Christmas shopping. No mention of fuel bills!!

Elegran Fri 01-Dec-23 08:05:36

Perhaps they knew that after their winter fuel bills were paid they would not have any money left to get themselves any festive food for Christmas, or buy any little presents for their grandchildren? Should they really have to forgo any other pleasure at all to keep warm?

Katyj Fri 01-Dec-23 13:23:09

It all seems very random. I got my pension and fuel allowance the same day. DH got his pension and the £10 Christmas bonus this week but no heating allowance.

Ailidh

I'm waiting with interest. I'm due £500 but they have told me I'll be getting £250. They believe I live in a care home. I don't, I live in an individual but supported flat, and I made that clear by letter when I moved in.

The complex manager has written a supporting letter, to which there was no reply.

We'll see. One of my neighbours had to get the local MP to sort it out, so that'll be my next step.

Well, hats off to them. I got an ominous brown envelope today but it was to say they'd updated my info, and I'd be getting the £500 within the next three weeks. 🙂🥶

I got mine earlier this week, my surname begins with a "C".

Mine is in the Bank - my surname begins with V

BigBertha1 Tue 05-Dec-23 07:24:49

We got the £10 bo mmm us each yesterday but nothing elsr. Last year and previous years the bonus came after. It will probably all go to Octopus.

Poppyred Tue 05-Dec-23 08:19:32

Ours in yesterday and today. Why they can’t give precise date when they send out the letters, I don’t know! Stop all this nonsense wouldn’t it.
