Car Insurance - massive price rises

Our car insurance is due for renewal at the beginning of May.
I cannot believe how much the premiums have risen.
I have tried price comparison websites and individual companies.
Most are at least double the amount that we paid last year.
I appreciate that costs have gone up but apart from being a year older nothing has changed for us.
Has anyone recently renewed their car insurance and not been astounded at the price ?

Definitely been price increases, we are on our last year of a three year fixed with SAGA for our cars, already bracing ourselves for next renewals.

This has been discussed before and recently here:

Do your comparisons between 20 and 26 days of renewal date.

I was checking mine earlier and am finding that prices are the same or even lower than last year.

Sorry, I did try to find any previous posts about this. I will look now.

Renewing your insurance around three weeks before it is due is the optimum time. I also renew mine using Top Cashback, I saved another £45 through them.

My car insurance has gone up from £330 last year to £860 this year..I haven't made a single claim since 2002..I'm furious..

I never go on comparison sites- I ring around, though fewer and fewer have phone lines it is possible if you can dedicate some time.

I find negotiating over the phone has always worked for me.
